Africa's digital STI infrastructure

Africahied African STI Intelligence Platform

The flagship application configured on Africahied — the digital public infrastructure for African science, technology and innovation. A continental platform to plan, monitor, benchmark and accelerate STISA-2034, designed to complement and strengthen ASTII and existing member-state systems, not replace them.

Africahied provides the digital public infrastructure upon which the African STI Intelligence Platform is configured — a continental capability, not a single dashboard.

Open STISA Implementation

Fastest-moving states

Largest year-on-year readiness gains.

Open Member States

Latest continental signals

New policies, grants and evidence across the corpus.

Observatory
A live deployment would stream policies, grants, hubs, patents and AU decisions continuously across the corpus.
Continental digital twin

One connected model of Africa's STI system

Not separate dashboards — a single linked model, from the continent down to individual research outputs and back up to development impact. This is the connective layer every module reads from. Tap a layer to open it.

Illustrative structure and counts. The digital twin links live data across the layers Africahied already indexes — the same principle behind the digital twins digital governments are now building.
Member state readiness

Which countries are progressing

Benchmark every member state's STISA-2034 readiness — policy, R&D investment, output, ecosystem and year-on-year progress. Tap a country for its national dashboard.

Country and REC figures are illustrative sample data for demonstration; a live deployment would draw on ASTII and the African Innovation Outlook, with national figures confirmed through the validation workflow below each country.
STISA-2034 implementation

Implementation monitoring, by priority

The platform's backbone: progress by priority, milestone, indicator and responsible institution — with the evidence behind it, the current bottleneck, and a recommended action. Tap a priority to open it.

Progress, milestones and institutional assignments shown are illustrative for discussion, not an official AUDA-NEPAD implementation record.
Investment intelligence

Where the next R&D dollar earns the most

Each STISA-2034 priority linked to African evidence, its driver, and a clear Invest / Stage / Redirect call — so continental capital flows to the best-evidenced, most execution-ready priorities.

African Knowledge System

The continent's knowledge system, made legible

Research, researchers, institutions, collaboration networks and knowledge flows — through to innovation and commercialisation. The African-owned evidence layer that every other module reads from, built on Africahied's indexed corpus.

Emerging opportunities

What Africa is missing — and where it's ready to move

Continental gaps, model-surfaced opportunity signals where capability and commercialisation diverge, and whitespace where strong evidence outpaces current investment.

Opportunity signals

Model-surfaced

Investment whitespace

Strong evidence, thin investment — where a dollar earns most.

Commercialisation & impact

From discovery to economic impact

STISA-2034 asks Africa to move beyond research outputs alone — tracing knowledge through to innovation, public value and development impact. This follows African research into patents, licensing, ventures, jobs and value, and shows where the pathway loses momentum.

A committee-ready recommendation

What to fund, stage and consolidate this cycle — cited to African evidence, aligned to STISA-2034 priorities, and mapped to the plan's MEAL indicators.

Invest — direct capital here

Stage — fund against milestones

Redirect — consolidate & strengthen

Mapped to MEAL indicators

Why Africahied

Not a dashboard — the digital infrastructure underneath it

The Intelligence Platform is one application. Beneath it sits Africahied: an African-owned digital public infrastructure for science, technology and innovation that already exists, operates at scale, and is deployment-ready.

The infrastructure stack

The platform and its applications are configured on the foundation.

What Africahied already provides

Existing capability, not a roadmap.

Why only Africahied

The strategic differentiator.

From software procurement to continental infrastructure. Africahied provides the digital public infrastructure upon which the African STI Intelligence Platform is configured. Partnering with Africahied is not buying a dashboard — it is adopting the African-owned digital backbone on which STISA-2034 implementation can be planned, measured and accelerated across the continent.

About & deployment evidence

About the platform

What this concept is, the proof that the underlying engine already runs on real African data, and how the platform is designed to sit within Africa's own STI infrastructure.

This is a concept demonstration prepared for discussion — not an official AUDA-NEPAD platform. All figures, scores, milestones and country data are illustrative sample data. The composite readiness index is an Africahied construct for demonstration and is not an AUDA-NEPAD or ASTII methodology.
Deployment evidence · proof of engine
Live operational deployment · health

Median patient wait time by month (hours)

Live operational data across two clinics, Nov 2025 – Mar 2026

Proof of engine, not a member-state's own system. This deployment shows the platform can ingest real operational data and drive measurable action — the same engine behind its recommendations. Every month beat the national 3-hour target after the first.
How it fits

Infrastructure, not just an application. Africahied is an African-owned digital public infrastructure for STI — an indexed corpus of 147M+ publications, resolved researcher and institution identities, an evidence graph, AI and analytics. The African STI Intelligence Platform is the flagship application configured on it; the same infrastructure can host member-state portals, research intelligence, learning and policy AI.

A layer that complements and strengthens existing systems. The platform builds on the indicators AUDA-NEPAD and ASTII already collect — reading the African Innovation Outlook and member-state submissions, and adding evidence linkage, benchmarking and decision support that strengthen, rather than duplicate, national and continental systems.

Built for expert review and traceability. The platform is designed so that recommendations are expert-reviewed before use and every figure traces to its source, reporting year, data owner and validation status. Member-state data stays owned by the contributing state.
